The project intends to create a space where one embraces Kumbh Mela before entering it. A space to understand Kumbh Mela. A space to get a sense of the scale of Kumbh Mela. The space will make a person sit and think about the Mela, about the experience he/she will experience. This will be with the complex layers of the sound of poojas at the distance, the lushing sound of the river Ganga, and the moist smell of the river along with the sweet smell of agarbattis. All of this together will create the sense of the Mela before entering it. The site is located in Prayagraj in Allahabad just before the entrance of the Kumbh Mela. The aim of the project is to create a cafe with the dimension of a viewing deck along with information on the Kumbh Mela. The deck would give a person a vantage point from where the whole Kumbla and its scale can be sensed. The deck will also consist of information on the history of the Mela. The location for creating a cafe with an information deck is suitable as the site is located just before the entrance of the Kumbla. Here mainly the tents of tourists are present which is at the periphery of the Mela. The creation of a space that would offer a space to eat as well as an information center is suitable for the location of the site. The project consists of a cafe an information deck and integrated shops/parking spaces. The inclusion of parking spaces is due to the fact that during the mail there is high congestion at the entryways of the Mela. This is due to the number of cars being parked along the road and not having systematic parking. Thus, including a parking space integrated into the project would help to solve this problem. The structure has been completely made with the materials with which the pontoon bridges and the temporary structures in the Mela are made. The project also aims at creating temporal structures with multipurpose programs.
